TUPELO – A teen has been arrested Friday and charged with burglary of a dwelling in Lee County.
Kurtis Yarbrough, 19, will face an initial appearance Tuesday in Lee County Justice Court.
Sheriff Jim Johnson said a caller from northeast Saltillo reported a suspicious car and people at his neighbor’s home Friday morning.
“He turned around and went back anf confronted three individuals in a blue-colored car,” Johnson said Monday. “The neighbor actually got into it with one of the subjects and was able to wrestle him to the ground.”
That suspect managed to get away, leaving behind a hooded jacket, and the three suspects jumped into the vehicle and drove away.
The vehicle was abandoned on Lake Lamar Bruce Road and discovered later by deputies. The vehicle, Johnson said, led to the identity of Yarbrough.
“We did an extensive hunt for him and late Friday afternoon we made an arrest,” he said.
The other two suspects, once caught, will be charged with the same crime, Johnson said.
The homeowners were not home at the time of the alleged burglary.
