Man convicted in double homicide at night club in Columbus

COLUMBUS — A Lowndes County jury has convicted a 44-year-old man on two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

The Commercial Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/uRimCD ) a jury comprised of eight men and four women deliberated for around 90 minutes Thursday before returning a guilty verdict in Daniel Copple’s trial.

Copple was charged in the shooting deaths of 33-year-old Mark Caudill and 42-year-old James Bennett Mann II and pointing a gun at the head of Michael Ward on the morning of Feb. 16 inside the Elbow Room Lounge in Columbus.

Daniel was sentenced to life in prison on each murder count and 15 years for the aggravated assault count. The sentences will run concurrently.
