PONTOTOC – A man injured in a car crash involving a horse and buggy Wednesday is in stable but critical condition.

Joe M. Hostetler of Algoma was still in critical condition Thursday at North Mississippi Medical Center after the buggy he was riding in was hit by a car on Highway 341, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Ray Hall.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. when Hall said Lauren L. Purdon, 19, of Thaxton, was traveling south on Highway 341 and collided with the horse and buggy.
