CORINTH – A man who was wounded in a June shooting at the American Legion Building in Corinth was killed in a Saturday night shooting at John Street Park.
Tavaris Damron, 29, of 1214 Lyon St., Corinth, was pronounced dead after being transported by ambulance from John Street Park to Magnolia Regional Health Center, said Corinth Police Chief David Lancaster.
A person of interest is in custody in connection with the shooting, Lancaster said, but the investigation continues today, with Capt. Ralph Dance and Detective Steve Wallace leading the investigation. Damron was one of four people wounded during shootings at a party in June.
Police were called to the park about 10:30 p.m. Saturday after conflict erupted during an event there. Due to the size of the crowd four officers responded.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department and Farmington Police Department assisted at the scene as well.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Corinth Police Department at (662) 286-3377.
