Man draws 10 years on firearms charge
ABERDEEN – A convicted Monroe County drug dealer was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Thursday on a charge of illegally possessing a firearm.
Jerry Lee Quinn, 27, Aberdeen, was also ordered by U.S. District Court Judge L.T. Senter Jr. to spend three years of supervised release after he serves the 10-year term, U.S. Attorney John Alexander said.
Quinn was found guilty by a federal court jury Nov. 9, 1995, of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents testified a gun was found in a car Quinn was driving after they attempted to execute a search warrant last May. Quinn and another witness claimed he was not the driver.
Quinn had previously been convicted in Monroe County Circuit Court on a charge of selling cocaine. In 1991 he was sentenced to six years in state prison and was released on parole in 1993, authorities said.
