KOSCIUSKO, Miss. (AP) — An Attala County man has been sentenced to serve four years in prison for failing to pay more than $68,000 in overdue child support.

Attorney General Jim Hood says in a news release that 51-year-old Dennis Kern of Kosciusko had ignored a 2008 court order to pay support for his child.

On Friday, Kern was sentenced to four years in prison and four years of probation. Kern was again ordered to pay $68,215 in back child support.

In 2008, Kern was sentenced to 10 years with two years to serve and eight suspended. He was also ordered to pay his back child support obligations.

Hood brought charges against Kern in 2009 for failing to pay any of the owed child support. Kern disappeared and was arrested in Nashville in July.
