HOLLY SPRINGS – A Marshall County woman was in jail Saturday and accused of fatally running over her boyfriend with a pickup truck on Friday.
Karen Farr is in the Marshall County Jail and held on previous charges, according to Joe Miller of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said she will be arraigned on Monday on charges in Friday’s incident.
Dickerson said Ronnie Perry, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck near Shady Rest motel on Highway 72 near the Tennessee state line and the Cayce Road intersection. He said the incident happened after the couple argued at the Shady Rest motel Friday afternoon.
Dickerson said Perry left the motel and started walking east along the highway.
Farr, according to Miller, got in a Ford Ranger and drove after him. He said Farr was in the eastbound lane, saw Perry in the westbound lane and swerved to hit him.
“She just literally ran him over with a pickup,” the sheriff said.
Miller said she also hit another vehicle, and the driver of that vehicle is OK.
The collision wrecked the truck and reportedly Farr left on foot for the motel, where she was arrested by deputies.
Officers from the Highway Patrol are assisting in the investigation. Miller said the investigation is ongoing and a team is reconstructing the accident today.
