Man suspected in Memphis kidnapping case captured
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 23-year-old man accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl at gunpoint was captured Wednesday hours after the girl was found bound and locked in a car, police said.
Binh Lam Ho was captured about 1:20 p.m. in the Hickory Hill section of Memphis after authorities received a tip that he was in the area, police said.
The alleged victim, Thuy Dung Cao, was found earlier Wednesday locked in a car parked in a wooded area of DeSoto County, Miss.
An Amber Alert had been issued Tuesday night for Cao. Police said Ho kidnapped Cao from in front of her family’s apartment Tuesday night, wielding a handgun and forcing her into his car.
Cao’s relatives told WREG-TV in Memphis that Ho had a crush on Cao. Ho was in federal custody.
