Man wants solicitation case delayed

OXFORD — A man charged with using the Internet to solicit sex from a 15-year-old girl wants his trial delayed.

Authorities say Bruce Neil Lannet used Yahoo messaging to try to get the girl to have sex with him in February, which would have constituted statutory rape.

Lannet has pleaded not guilty. His trial was scheduled for June 27 in Oxford. His attorney, Gregory S. Park, asked for a delay of the trial so he can prepare for the case.

Park did not immediately respond to a message for comment.
