TUPELO – Taxes are history this week at several downtown merchants.
Eight businesses are taking the state’s sales tax holiday to the next level by offering all items tax-free all week.
“It’s a way we can give back to the customer,” said Machelle Pitcock, owner of Ladybug’s. “The economy’s still not on the upswing and it’s one way we can help them.”
The sales-tax free week started Monday and ends at the close of business Saturday.
Participating merchants are Ladybug’s, Luxe Boutique, The Main Attraction, MLM Clothiers, Monogram It, Swirlz, Voe’s Boutique and Yellow Lovebirds.
This is the third time the downtown merchants have offered a tax-free week with no restrictions on items.
The state’s tax holiday is Friday and Saturday and applies only to specific items.
