Marijuana seized at DeSoto Co. inspection station

NESBIT – The Mississippi Department of Transportation says 140 pounds of marijuana was seized over the weekend at a truck inspection station after officers pulled over a tractor-trailer on Interstate 55 in DeSoto County.

MDOT’s director of enforcement Chief Willie Huff says the driver, Ramon Marrero Acuna of Houston, Texas, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Huff says the truck was stopped for a routine safety inspection at the station in Nesbit on Sunday. He says the plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana were found inside two large duffel bags.

Huff says Acuna was being held in the DeSoto County jail on $200,000 bond pending an initial court appearance.
