Marketplace to help autism center

TUPELO – More than 25 vendors will be on hand at the second annual Mimosa Marketplace today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the BancorpSouth Conference Center behind the Hilton Garden Inn downtown.
Items for sale will include pottery, makeup, photography, clothing, jewelry, gourmet foods, sculptural art, stationery, baked goods and furniture. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, and include hors d’oeuvres and mimosas.
“Basically, this is a small marketplace where local vendors can come together and sell goods for a good cause,” said Joshua Simpson, the chef at the Hilton Garden Inn.
All door proceeds this year go to benefit the Autism Center of Tupelo, which opened in October 2009. It currently has 16 clients in the center; it also serves clients in the schools and in home therapy.
