GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Greenville Mayor Chuck Jordan is proposing the city and the local school system partner to build a new, enclosed pool.
Jordan tells the Delta Democrat Times (http://bit.ly/MyqrEp) that the new pool could be used year-round.
Jordan has talked with the school board, local parks commission officials and the local YMCA.
Jordan says the new pool could be used by all ages, could be the site for school-sponsored events and community programs.
Jordan says the cost to renovate the existing city pool was estimated at $2.5 million.
Jordan says he would expect the new pool to cost from $500,000 to $1 million. He says the existing pool would stay open.
