TUPELO – Both candidates seeking to become Tupelo’s next mayor will appear at a political forum today at 7 p.m., their last scheduled event together before next week’s general election.
Republican Fred Pitts, 70, Ward 2 councilman and longtime businessman, and Democrat Jason Shelton, 37, attorney, will answer questions from area media representatives.
Organized by the Lee County GOTV Coalition, the free event open to the public will be in the meeting rooms of the BancorpSouth Arena.
With contested City Council races decided in the primary election, the mayor’s race will be the only competitive election on the ballot.
With the general election on June 4, absentee ballots can be cast at City Hall until Saturday at noon.
