McAlister’s aids Price reward fund

By New Albany News-Exchange

McAlister’s Deli Manager Mike Verrell, right in photo, presents a $5,000 check to Mayor Tim Kent on behalf of McAlister’s owner, David Blackburn of Nashville.

The check is for the reward fund in the shooting death of Amanda Price and wounding of her husband, Coach Ron Price. Blackburn’s company, Southern Rock Restaurants, had owned the New Albany McAlister’s only about a month and Blackburn learned about the Price case while he was visiting the restaurant.

”He just felt compelled to do something personally to help the community because the community helps McAlister’s so much,” Verrell said.

A $25,000 reward was being offered in the case and Mayor Kent said it is likely that at least some of that amount will be paid.
