IUKA – Ben McClung will be the new superintendent of Tishomingo County Schools.
McClung, who retired in 2010 as assistant superintendent of Lafayette County Schools, will succeed Malcolm Kuykendall, who recently announced his retirement at the end of the school year.
“The board was very impressed with Mr. McClung’s experience and his vision for our school district,” said Michael Puckett, school board president, in the district’s announcement on its website.
McClung was reared in Tishomingo County and spent 21 years as a teacher, coach and principal in the district. He was principal at Saltillo Elementary for four years before becoming assistant superintendent in Lafayette County in 2003.
Since 2010 he has worked for the state Department of Education and the University of Mississippi in teacher and principal mentoring and supervisory roles.
