MHP investigating two fatal wrecks

Two recent fatal accidents continue to be investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

On Monday, Brandi Graves, 31, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., died in a two-vehicle collision in Benton County. She was a passenger in a Ford driven by Joshua Carter, 31, of Killen, Ala. Carter was traveling north on Highway 7 when he crossed into the path of a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer driven by Danny Stewart, 44, of Albany Ky. The Ford struck the 18-wheeler, which was traveling east on Highway 72, killing Graves.

Carter of Killen, Ala., suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Stewart was not injured.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m.

Larr Wicks, 61, of Corinth, died in a one-car accident on Friday in Alcorn County. His 2014 Buick Encore was traveling north on County Road 500 when it crossed over Highway 2 and struck a light pole. Wicks died from his injuries.

The wreck occurred at about 9:40 p.m.
