MHP issues citations, works three fatal crashes

About halfway through Mississippi Highway Patrol’s holiday enforcement blitz, the agency had issued thousands of tickets and made more than 100 DUI arrests.

According to MHP, as of 6 p.m. Thursday through midnight Friday, troopers had issued 3,497 citations with 106 DUI arrests and worked 62 motor vehicle accidents, which included three fatalities.

The three fatal crashes involved a 44-year-old man killed on U.S. Highway 49 East in Holmes County, a 22-year-old on Highway 98 West in George County and a 75-year-ld woman on Interstate 10 West in Jackson County.

The enforcement period continues and will end Sunday at midnight.
