Miss. appeals court upholds murder conviction

JACKSON — The state Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld the 2009 murder conviction of a Panola County man in the death of his wife.

Dennis Cosby was sentence to life in prison for the death of his wife, Wendy, during the Thanksgiving weekend in 2007.

Prosecutors say Cosby stabbed his wife during a fight at their Panola County home and dropped her body into the Tallahatchie River.

At trial, Cosby claimed his wife had left him but also admitted to throwing her into the river.

On appeal, Cosby claimed prosecutors didn’t prove his guilt.

The Appeals Court said it could not find any error with the jury, faced with Cosby’s contradictory statements at trial and his admission that he threw his wife into the river, finding Cosby guilty.
