Miss. authorities: Man hired to assault rival

DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. (AP) — South Mississippi authorities say two men are facing assault charges after one of them hired the other to assault a rival.

Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam says in a new release Tuesday that the latest man charged in the case is Diamondhead resident Dallas Pinion. Adam says the 30-year-old Pinion surrendered to authorities Monday and was charged with aggravated assault.

The charges stem from the Feb. 14 assault on a 26-year-old man in the parking lot of the Diamondhead Country Club.

Sheriff’s investigators said 22-year-old Destin Johnson of Bay St. Louis was the assailant. He was arrested Feb. 15.

Adam said Johnson and Pinion entered into an agreement to assault the victim.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the suspects had attorneys.
