JACKSON — Carolyn Meyers, a past president of Norfolk State University, has been named the preferred candidate for president of Jackson State University.
If formally named president, Meyers would be the first woman to lead Jackson State.
The College Board also announced Monday the selection of Christopher Brown, the current executive vice president at Fisk University, as the preferred candidate for president at Alcorn State University.
Meyers and Brown will now attend a series of campus meetings, leading up to a final vote by the College Board.
