JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour has ordered state flags lowered to half-staff Wednesday in honor of the more than 2,400 Americans killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
The date is recognized each year as “National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.”
In accordance with the order, Mississippi flags on all state buildings and grounds will be flown at half-staff Wednesday from sunrise to sunset.
