SLIDELL, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say they suspect alcohol use in a one-car wreck that killed a 28-year-old man from Hattiesburg, Miss., and seriously injured his passenger.

Trooper Nick Manale says in a news release that Curtis Cameron’s 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis drifted off the left side of eastbound Interstate 10 and hit a sign support in the median.

He says Cameron was not wearing a seat belt. Manale says 28-year-old Katrina Cameron of Hattiesburg was wearing a seat belt, but was seriously injured. She was airlifted from a Slidell hospital to the trauma center University Hospital in New Orleans.

The wreck occurred about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, about a half-mile south of the junction of Interstate 10, 12, and 59 in St. Tammany Parish.
