MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a missing Lauderdale County woman has been found near her home in Toomsuba in east Mississippi.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun tells the Meridian Star that the death of 60-year-old Elizabeth Morris is being investigated as a homicide.

Calhoun says a suspect was in custody and charges are pending.

Calhoun would not say how Morris died. An autopsy will be conducted.

Morris was reported missing Monday by family members when she failed to come home Sunday night from work. Her car was found Monday morning on Old Highway 45 north of the Lauderdale community.
