BOONEVILLE – A Prentiss County man who had been missing from his home since Sunday morning was found safe by searchers Monday evening, said Sheriff Randy Tolar.
Lewis Daniel Thompson, 47, described as mentally challenged, was located before 7 p.m. Monday on a field road just off C.R. 5312, about two miles from the County Road 5051 residence where he lived, the sheriff said.
“I understand the man was severely dehydrated, but overall in pretty good shape,” Tolar said. Participating in the search were Prentiss County Rescue Squad, Tri-County Rescue Squad, Union County Urban Search and Rescue and
their dive team, Prentiss County volunteer fire departments, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, K-9 officer and dog, Rural Metro Ambulance Service and Prentiss County deputies.
