JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — State Auditor Stacey Pickering put his emergency medical training to use on Friday by helping a man who appeared to be having a seizure outside the Mississippi Capitol.
Pickering tells The Clarion-Ledger that he was leaving his office when he saw a pedestrian shaking and involuntarily hitting his head on a sidewalk. Pickering says he stopped his vehicle and he and another passer-by came to the man’s aid.
Pickering is captain in the Air National Guard and former volunteer firefighter who has had some emergency medical training.
He says Capitol police officers quickly came out of the building and helped the man until an ambulance arrived. He says the man appeared to be fine as he was put in the ambulance.
