Mississippi State guard arrested on campus

Mississippi State lost one freshman guard to injury on Monday and announced Wednesday that another had been arrested.
Freshman Craig Sword was arrested by campus police on Sunday for carrying a BB gun into his dorm. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of a firearm.
“I am aware of the situation involving Craig bringing a BB gun into the dorm, which is a misdemeanor,” new MSU coach Rick Ray said in a statement. “Craig did not point it at anyone or towards anyone.
“Craig realizes the severity of his actions, is extremely remorseful and fully understands that he must be held accountable. There will be disciplinary action carried out once I have all the facts and details.”
The 6-foot-3 Sword was the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year for Alabama 6A state champion Montgomery Carver.
Sword is expected to start for the Bulldogs, especially after incoming freshman point guard Jacoby Davis suffered a knee injury on Monday that will require surgery.
