STARKVILLE — Mississippi State University has topped its $100 million goal in its fundraising campaign.
The StatePride campaign began in 2009 and runs through the end of the year. As of Friday, the MSU Foundation had collected gifts and pledges of more than $104 million.
The campaign has raised more than $71 million to pay for undergraduate and graduate student scholarships.
Almost $33 million has been raised to support faculty members, including creating endowed professorships. MSU says it now has 65 professorships that are endowed with private funds, a number that counts 12 where gifts have been pledged but not received. Endowed positions often allow a school to boost a professor’s salary or provide extra money for research.
The MSU Foundation raises money and administers endowments for the 20,000-student university.
