Mississippi State student charged in stabbing

STARKVILLE — Police in Starkville have arrested a Mississippi State University student in connection with the stabbing of another student at a bar.

Police Chief David Lindley told the Starkville Daily News that officers responded to Rock Bottom Bar late Friday and discovered 21-year-old Joseph Ryan Davis with multiple stab wounds.

Lindley said Davis was in serious condition after surgery at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Columbus.

After interviewing witnesses, Lindley said 25-year-old William Daniel Prince of Starkville was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was jailed pending a bond hearing.

It couldn’t be determined if Prince had an attorney Saturday.

Lindley said the investigation was continuing.
