Monroe County drug, child porn bust

GATTMAN — Two men have been arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department after a raid on a house in Gattman turned up drugs, numerous weapons and child pornography.
Arrested were Greely Wayne Blair, 47, who faces charges of possession of child pornography, marijuana, illegal weapons and contributing to the delinquency of a minor; and Jonathan P. Downey, 38, who faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell described the scene as “sickening. I’ve never seen one of this magnitude of evidence that we have gathered against Mr. Blair at his residence. It’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen,”
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Tim Oswalt, the trail to Blair began on Red Hill Road where Sheriff Cantrell found discarded plastic bottles used to make a form of crystal meth known as “shake and bake.” After these bottles were discovered, the neighborhood was canvassed. Blair and Downey were in the first house the sheriff and his deputies came across.
Cantrell said he smelled marijuana and asked to search the home. “It’s one of those situations you’re put in and you don’t realize the magnitude of it until you get inside the house and you find all this. You find the weapons. You find the drugs. You find the pills and you go into the bedroom and then you find the pornography and with adults and children and all the films and things. You just don’t understand why somebody would be doing this,” Cantrell said.
Cantrell said they found seven shake and bake labs in a home nearby, but neither Greely nor Downey have been charged in connection with that discovery.
Spokesman Oswalt said the suspects were expected to be arraigned Wednesday, at which time further details would be made available.
