PRAIRIE — A portion of Mississippi Highway 382 in Prairie has been dedicated as the Gulf Ordnance Plant Memorial Highway.
The name is to honor those who worked at the plant that produced bombs used in World War II.
Historian Brent Coleman said that the plant played a major part in the winning the war.
The dedicated portion will be a seven mile stretch between U.S. Highway 45 Alternate and Mississippi Highway 25.
