ABERDEEN — Thirteen inmates at the Monroe County Jail have enrolled in the jail’s new GED program.
Teacher Rebecca McCown tells WTVA-TV that the GED program is hoped to give inmates a strong start once they leave the prison system.
McCown says if inmates re-enter society with an education and other skills, they stand a better chance of living a lifestyle within the law.
Inmates will attend class twice a week and move along at their own pace to achieve their high school equivalency diploma.
