ABERDEEN – James Patrick Allen was found not guilty of a 2010 sexual assault in which two other young men pleaded guilty.
Allen, about 24, formerly of Mantachie, went on trial earlier this week in the circuit court of Monroe County with Lee Dulaney as defense attorney.
Tuesday, in the trial’s second day, the jury returned a not-guilty verdict.
In 2010, Allen was one of three males ages 17-21 and a 17-year-old female were indicted on charges surrounding the sexual assault on another teenage woman, who reportedly was so drunk she could not recall what happened to her.
Last October, two of the men pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery but have not been sentenced. The charges against the female are pending.
