Motor vehicle accident claims life in Monroe County

WREN – A Smithville woman lost her life following a one vehicle accident Sunday, April 28 in Wren, according to a press release from Monroe County coroner Alan Gurley.
According to the statement, Trina Kay Pace Bishop, 43, was dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at 8:37 p.m. on Wren Cemetery Road.
Bishop was a backseat passenger of a 2006 Chevy sports utility vehicle driven by a friend. According to Gurley, the driver of the vehicle lost control and struck a tree causing the vehicle to roll over. Bishop was wearing a seatbelt.
Her 16-year-old son was also a passenger of the SUV and was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo with minor injuries and later released, according to the family.
The driver of the vehicle was also taken to NMMC. Her condition is unknown.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
Gurley added that Bishop’s daughter was Jessica Pace, who lost her life at age 18, to Smithville’s April 27, 2011 tornado.
