TUPELO – Motorbikes, Boy Scouts and barbecue will go together on Saturday, March 15.

The 2014 Ride with the King Motorcycle Ride & Rally will take place the same day as the Don’t Be Cruel BBQ Duel in downtown Tupelo.

The ride is a fundraiser for the Yocona Area Council Boy Scouts of America, while the BBQ Duel supports Link Centre.

“We’re hoping to bring 200 to 300 riders to Fairpark,” said Russ Wilson, publicity chairman for Ride with the King. “By combining, we’re hoping to get more people at both events.”

Ride participants can pre-register at, or registration will be 9 a.m. the day of the event on Fairpark Drive. VIP parking will be available for all bikes.

The cost is $30, and that includes a Ride with the King T-shirt, as well as a commemorative coin and two patches. It’ll cost $5 for an extra rider.

A poker run will begin at 10 a.m., and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

“The main idea is to have good, local entertainment. People don’t have to drive somewhere else,” Wilson said. “They can have fun here, and the proceeds benefit the Boy Scouts.”

Participants also can join the fun at the BBQ Duel at Fairpark. About 100 barbecue teams from 30 states will compete against each other. Barbecue will be for sale, and musicians will perform.
