indicted in hot-oil killing
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) A woman accused of killing her husband by pouring hot cooking oil on him has been indicted by a Hancock County grand jury.
Edna Mae Sanders, 45, will be arraigned Feb. 22 on the murder charge returned by the grand jury this week.
Police allege Sanders poured a pot of blistering-hot grease on her husband, Sherman, 53, while he was sleeping at their Diamondhead home July 28, 2006. He died a week later in an Alabama hospital.
Sanders has been in jail on $1 million bond since surrendering in August to face charges in the death of her husband, a U.S. Navy retiree who worked in the human resources department at Stennis Space Center.
