MSU’s provost down to five

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State University has narrowed its search for provost and executive vice president to five finalists who will be interviewed on campus this week and next.
The five candidates are Thomas Keon, dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida; Beverly Sypher, associate provost for Special Initiatives at Purdue University; Jeffrey Vitter, former provost for Academic Affairs at Texas A&M University; Bobby Gempesaw, dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Delaware; and Jerry Gilbert, associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Mississippi State.
With the assistance of the search firm Academic-Search, the committee began by screening 48 applications down to 10 applicants, who were interviewed last week by teleconference.
