TUPELO – Mugshots Bar & Grill is coming to Fairpark.
Mayor Jack Reed Jr. on Tuesday said he was excited about the new restaurant during his presentation to the Tupelo Redevelopment Agency, which governs the development of Fairpark.
Johnny Robbins after the meeting confirmed the identity of his restaurant.
“That’s what’s coming,” he said. “We do have the franchise.”
Robbins and his brother, Ben, formed Slow’s Eateries LLC and in September 2011 bought the piece of land on Main Street where an Oby’s restaurant originally was planned. It’s next to the Renasant Center for IDEAs and across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn.
Robbins, who also owns Papa V’s in Fairpark, said he hopes to open the restaurant before Christmas.
Mugshots opened its first restaurant in Hattiesburg in 2004. It has since located in Starkville, Flowood, Biloxi, Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge and Vestavia Hills, Ala. Mugshots is known for its burgers.
Robbins said he is working with the city about details for his location. He said he hopes to have renderings to share at a later date.
