KOSCIUSKO — The suspect accused in the death of a Kosciusko businessman has been extradited to Mississippi from Tennessee.

WLBT TV reports 52-year-old Theotus Barnett was brought to Attala County Monday afternoon.

Barnett was charged in February 2011 in connection with the death of Daniel Tavares, III.

In 2007, Tavares was robbed, then beaten to death and suffocated at his used car dealership in Kosciusko.

According to investigators, Barnett was arrested in a separate case in Memphis, Tenn., for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery in 2011.

Evidence collected then linked him to the Tavares cases.
