HATTIESBURG — A 24-year-old Southern Miss student, who was killed last week in a Hattiesburg apartment complex, has been laid to rest.

Lance Logan was remembered Monday during a funeral mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia with military honors.

Logan, a former active duty member of the Army, attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. At Southern Miss, he majored in international business and served as vice president of the Student Government Association. He was scheduled to graduate in December.

Logan’s body was found last week. WDAM-TV says authorities initially believed the death was a suicide but following a partial autopsy, the case has now been ruled a homicide.

Hattiesburg Police Lt. Eric Proulx says no suspects are in custody.
