COLUMBUS – Mississippi University for Women's Office of Career Services will host its first campus-wide career fair from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday in the Hogarth Banquet Rooms on campus.
The purpose of the event is to provide students of all majors the opportunity to interact with employers and discuss current and upcoming career opportunities and the key skills employers are seeking in candidates.
Some of the organizations that will be in attendance include National Bank of Commerce, WCBI-TV, 4-County Electric Power Association, University Management, Harvey's, Sweet Peppers Deli, The Grill, Columbus-Lowndes County Development Link, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Client Logic, Ace Training Center, Inc., Northeast Mississippi Coca-Cola, Cingular Wireless and Excell Communications.
To prepare students for this event, the Office of Career Services hosted Career Week, which offered a series of evening workshops geared toward assisting students in further developing and packaging their skills. Workshop topics included employment correspondence, developing a portfolio, projecting a professional image/dress for success, interviewing techniques, networking and how to work a career fair.
