Nail agrees to temporary extension on Tupelo school board

TUPELO – Tupelo School Board member John Nail has agreed to briefly extend his service on that board while Mayor Jack Reed Jr. searches for Nail’s replacement.
Nail’s five-year term was scheduled to end on March 5, but Reed said that he isn’t quite ready to nominate a new board member. The City Council will vote at its regular meeting Tuesday on temporarily extending Nail’s term.
Reed said the extension would last “weeks, not any extended time.”
“I’ve been interviewing and have talked to some excellent candidates, but several of them are weighing their work obligations and what may or may not be feasible,” Reed said.
Nail said he is not seeking a second term.
Tupelo school board members are appointed by the mayor.
