NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) — Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins says a Natchez man reportedly was shot and killed while driving away from a man who tried to rob him.
He tells The Natchez Democrat (http://bit.ly/nshygr) that 30-year-old Cedric M. Morgan’s wife called police to say he had been shot just before midnight Friday — about the time that someone else called to say that a car had crashed into a brick fence.
Mullins says the woman told police they were in their car in the Taste of Chicago parking lot when a man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt demanded money at gunpoint. Mullins says Morgan hit the gas, but was shot in the chest.
It’s the city’s third killing in less than two months.
