Natchez Trace Parkway traveler advisory severe weather alert

TUPELO – A traveler advisory is in effect for the Natchez Trace Parkway, effective from 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, through 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 30.

The National Weather Service forecast includes the possibility of severe thunderstorms and high winds for the parts of Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi through which the Parkway passes. These conditions present a hazard to those traveling in automobiles, recreational vehicles, or those towing non-commercial items such as boats and trailers.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving on the Parkway during the time period shown due to the possibility of falling trees and other hazards. All visitors should be vigilant and continue to monitor the radio for further guidance. In addition, motorists are reminded that cellular coverage is limited to non-existent on certain sections of the Parkway.
