National Weather Service confirms tornado damage in New Albany and Hamilton

Reports Sunday showed while Northeast Mississippi was not hit as hard as parts of the state there was damage.

Preliminary EF-0 Tornado damage in New Albany showed the maximum winds were estimated at 80 mph with a track width of 25 to 30 yards, the National Weather Service reported. Numerous trees were knocked down along with roof damage.

According to Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, 63 homes/mobile homes were damaged and there was one injury in Union County.

National Weather Service also reported a preliminary EF-1 Tornado in Hamilton. It touched down in Hamilton near the intersection of Hwy 45 and Hamilton Road, commonly known as the Crossroads area.

MEMA reports in Monroe County: 48 homes/mobile homes damaged, three businesses damaged, one injury.
