Neilson requests trial continuance

By NEMS Daily Journal

OXFORD – Indicted FBI agent Hal Neilson has asked the U.S. District Court to delay his criminal trial for at least eight months.
Neilson recently was indicted on charges he lied and failed to properly report his financial interest in Oxford’s FBI office building.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges Feb. 1, a few days before undergoing triple bypass surgery.
His attorney, Ken Coghlan, said the government has given them some 19,000 pages of information related to the charges, which must be analyzed with Neilson’s help, and his recent heart surgery will require lengthy recovery.
“Opposing counsel agrees that a continuance is merited,” Coghlan says.
