Nettleton police officer arrested on drug charges

By NEMS Daily Journal

NETTLETON – Nettleton Police Officer Caleb Smith remains in the Lee County Jail on $3,000 bond after a Monday drug arrest.

Smith, who is a part-time officer with Nettleton, is charged with possession of cocaine by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit. Smith, who was off duty at the time, was arrested on North Gloster Street in Tupelo.

Capt. Marvis Bostick said Smith was arrested during an investigation of another person. That person was Joseph Thomas Moore, 25, of Verona who was arrested on charges of sale of cocaine.

It is unclear if Smith is still employed with the Nettleton Police Department.
