HOUSTON – The Houston School Board has accepted bids for a new band hall and roof for the vocational center.
Bruce Massey Construction of Oxford was the lowest and best bid at $768,608 for the band hall minus $47,000 for a walkway canopy. This project had an anticipated cost of more than $1 million.
Copper Top Sheet Metal of Columbus was the lowest and best bid at $251,971.66 to resurface and seal the vocational center building.
Copper Top stated a construction time of 75 days after start. Massey will have 240 days to complete the band hall once it starts. Both projects should begin next month.
The band hall will be all new construction. The building will feature an acoustically designed band room and a second, smaller rehearsal room. The new band hall will also have office spaces for band teachers, a uniform storage room and an a sheet music/instrument storage room.
