New candidate declares for Corinth alderman

CORINTH – One new candidate entered the field for alderman in Corinth’s municipal elections this week.

Jennifer McCoy, a Democrat, submitted qualifying papers to run for alderman at large, the first opponent for incumbent Leroy “Mike” Hopkins.

Others who have declared their candidacy so far include: Mayor, incumbent Tommy Irwin, Republican; Ward 1 alderman, incumbent Andrew “Bubba” Labas, Republican; Ward 2 alderman, incumbent Ben Albarracin, Republican; Ward 3 alderman, incumbent A.L. “Chip” Wood, Republican; Ward 4 alderman, incumbent J.C. “Honeyboy” Hill, Democrat; Steve Hill, Democrat; Dewayne Porter, Democrat; Ward 5 alderman, incumbent Michael McFall, Republican; chief of police, Capt. Ralph Dance, Capt. Ben Gann and Officer Fred Gooch.

The qualifying deadline is July 18; party primaries are Sept. 16; primary runoffs are Sept. 30, if necessary; and general election is Oct. 14.
