MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The new Le Bonheur (leh-BON’-uhr) Children’s Medical Center in Memphis is set for a grand opening.
The 255-bed, $340 million medical complex is geared to care for the more than 130,000 children who come to the hospital each year.
The hospital’s expansion is being celebrated Tuesday with a parade and hospital tours. It will coincide with Le Bonheur’s 58th birthday.
At least $100 million was raised from the community for construction.
The facility will have sleeping accommodations for up to two family members.
There also will be family rooms on every floor. And, a family resource center will let parents use computers to catch up on business or research their child’s illness with the help of an educator.
